On Saturday, October 7th, students and instructors attended the 27th American International Karate Championships at the RIT Inn & Conference Center. Congratulations to Nicholas, Brendan, Sempai Hannah, Sempai Paul, Sempai MaryLou, and Sempai Rich on their performances in kata, weapons, and semi contact fighting. They all did well and brought home several trophies and medals. Shihan Chris, Sensei Matt, Sensei Mike, and Sensei Chuck served as officials for kata, weapons, and breaking.

usa ifkk logoOn Saturday, September 20th, our students particpated in the annual American International Karate Championships at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center in Rochester, NY.

Events at this year's tournament included kata, weapons, breaking, clicker fighting, semi-contact fighting, and knockdown fighting. Our students competd in kata and clicker fighting. There were competitors not only from the Rochester and Finger Lakes area, but also from several different states, Canada, Russia, and South Africa.

{jcomments on}2013LogosIt was a spectacular weekend in Albany for the North East Open. It started Friday evening with the Gala. About 160 people were in attendance at the Gala, which featured key  note speeches from Master Paul Fracchia, Master Miichael Campos, and Master Craig McDonald. During the Gala there was a trivia contest as well as some entertaining videos.

{jcomments on}First tournament victoryOn Saturday, October 19th several travelled to Herkimer County Community College for the Diamond Valley Classic, hosted by Bailey's Karate School - Herkimer. We were joined by a few of our fellow students from the Galway Karate Club as well as Sensei Beth came up from Binghamton University.

Everyone had a great time as we brought home many medals and cup trophies.

hilton2012On Saturday, June 16th, a few of us traveled to the other side of the county. We went to Hilton High School where Russ Davenport and Liam Anderson competed. Sensei Chris helped with officiating and coaching. Sempai Chuck assisted with getting our competitors ready and making sure they were in the correct divisions. Sempai Taylor was there to be our official photographer and videographer.

This was Russ's first tournament and he brought home a second place in Clicker Fighting and a third place in Semi Contact. This was Liam's second competition and he placed second in Semi Contact fighting, which included a knockout of his first round opponent. Both young meng represented Golden Eagle Martial Arts at the highest levels. Both plan to continue competing including the American International Karate Championships in November.

2013 aikcOn September 21st we went to the annual Kyokushin tournament at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

This year'c competitors included Hannah, Dan, Sempai Paul, Sempai Mary Lou Padgett, Sempai Rich Morelle, Sempai Zach, Sempai Taylor, Sempai Chuck, and Sensei Mike. Shihan Chris served as an official. Sempai Liam, Sempai Carolyn, and Sensei Nik were in attendance as spectators and supporters of the competitors.

Some of our students competed at the 19th American International Championships on October 10th, 2009. The event was held at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center.

Sempai Mike competed in the Men's Senior Brown Belt Division for kata, weapons kata, and clicker fighting. He brought home third place trophies in weapons kata and clicker fighting. Sempai Chuck also competed in the Men's Senior Brown Belt Divisions for kata, weapons kata, and clicker fighting. He brought home a third place trophy for kata and a second place trophy for weapons kata. Sempai Taylor competed in Female 11-12 Brown Belt Divisions for kata and weapons kata. She brought home third place for each.

Congratulations to all. Next year's tournament will be October 9th.
