24th Amermican International Karate Championships

On Saturday, September 20th, our students particpated in the annual American International Karate Championships at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center in Rochester, NY.

Events at this year's tournament included kata, weapons, breaking, clicker fighting, semi-contact fighting, and knockdown fighting. Our students competd in kata and clicker fighting. There were competitors not only from the Rochester and Finger Lakes area, but also from several different states, Canada, Russia, and South Africa.

Aidan brought home a second place in kata and first place in clicker fighting. Hannah brought home a third place in kata and second place in clicker fighting. Sempai Paul was a finalist in kata and a third place in clicker fighting, Sempai Mary Lou won a second place in kata, and Sempai Rich was a finalist in kata and won second place in clicker fighting.

Our black belts served as judges for kata, weapons, and semi-contact fighting. Shihan Chris was joined in judging responsibilities by Sensei Mike, Sensei Chuck, Sensei Taylor, and Sensei Zach. Sempai Laura, Sempai Russ, and Sempai CJ were also their to coach our competitors and film their performances.

At the end of the day our members that were still around enjoyed some takeout from Dinosaur Barbeque.
